He is 100% in the Lego phase and loves the Lego City kits. He got a couple of those for his birthday and disappears into his room for hours until they are done. I went searching for a gift and saw this and gave it a try. The first part of the fun was putting it together, just like any other Lego set. The rules take a few minutes to figure out, but after that it's a very fun game. Basically each player (up to 4) is a Ninja and they work together to search all the guardhouses on the board to find the Golden Weapons. Some guardhouses have golden weapons, some have gray tokens which brings a guard to your space. When that happens, you have to spin the spinner and if you get the color of your ninja or any other ninja that's in the space, you defeat the guard. If you lose, the General goes down one step. Once the General goes down all the steps he captures one of your Golden Weapons. There is also a cool rubberized dice to roll, which moves the... First, you have to build the playing board and pieces, which is fun (it took my 6 year old about 1 hour). My favorite part of this game is that all players play as a team, not against each other. Your team plays against the board (or general). You don't see this game play concept a lot, so it's fun to have this type of game among your collection. This is a good game for kids and family. My 6 year old picked up the rules pretty quickly. The next day he was showing his friends how to play. 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful Pretty Decent Game, By = Durability: = Fun: = Educational: Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: LEGO Ninjago 3856 (Toy) My 7 and 9 yo boys love all things ninjago, so this was a Christmas present for Mr. 7 year old. He has liked it and we have enjoyed playing it with him. The rules are pretty fun as they are although I would enjoy it more if there were more strategy involved and not just rolling the die and using the spinner thing. (But there are obviously many kid games have even less freedom of choice: Candy Land, Chutes and Ladders, etc. etc.)I love that the rule book gives ideas and suggestions for customizing the game and developing house rules. Obviously anyone can do house rules whenever they want, but I love that they throw it out there to encourage the kids to think about how they might want to play and that they offer ideas to try different things. The game comes in pieces and has instructions to build, which my son enjoyed. One downside is there are LOTS of little pieces, like all things lego, so there's the potential there to lose pieces. But that is the case with... Read more |
